Helen Stamatakos is the founder and owner of Pilates Insync in Menai Sydney Australia. She has over 20 years’ experience and a unique teaching style specialising in training world renown elite athletes across a wide spectrum of sports and disciplines. Helen is now an educator with Pilates ITC organisation where she is passing her vast knowledge and expertise to the future Pilates generation. Helen Stamatakos is one of the most respected and qualified instructors in the industry today.

Joanne Bezzina

PILATES ON GEORGE

Joanne Bezzina is a dynamic and dedicated Pilates practitioner with over 20 years of experience, recognised internationally and winner of the Pilates Anytime instructor competition. Her teaching blends traditional and contemporary methods, emphasising clear communication, humour, and client empowerment. Committed to continuous learning, her primary goal is to inspire and empower clients, ensuring they leave each session happier, more relaxed, and stronger.

Sara Colquhoun

Sara Colquhoun, one of Australia’s most accomplished Pilates instructors, began her Pilates journey at 14. With a background in dance from The Victorian College of the Arts, she combines her expertise in traditional Pilates with a modern twist. A Balanced Body Master Trainer and Pilates Anytime Instructor of the Year, Sara has worked with elite AFL players, Australian Ballet dancers, and Cirque du Soleil artists. She's travelled the world presenting workshops, inspiring people of all ages and body types to embrace Pilates for improved body awareness, functional movement, and overall well-being.

Frances Cahill

PILATESITC & PILATES FITNESS INSTITUTE

Frances is a Pilates Practitioner (91490NSW), Principal Educator, and co-Director of Pilates ITC and Pilates Fitness Institute (PFI). She has worked in the industry and Pilates education for over 20 years and is passionate about the role Pilates ITC is playing in reimagining “Pilates learning” in formalised and continuing education contexts. Frances has learned from a multitude of industry leaders and presented at various conferences. She has served on the board of the PAA and has worked with AUSactive to finalise Pilates industry guidelines for best practice.

Suzanne Newby

Suzanne is a Pilates Practitioner (91490NSW) and co-Director of Pilates ITC and Pilates Fitness Institute (PFI) in Perth. Boasting over 20 years of experience in the industry and education and having worked with a variety of industry experts, she is committed to enhancing the standards and culture of Pilates education in Australia. A dedicated continuing education presenter, she has shared her expertise at many Pilates industry events including the PAA Conference. Additionally, Suzanne has served on the PAA board and contributed to industry best practice guidelines with AUSactive.

Ben Rashleigh

Ben Rashleigh is a Pilates and movement practitioner with over a decade of experience, specialising in articular health, mobility, and tissue capacity. He co-owns Aligned for Life Pilates in Melbourne and is part of Melbourne City FC’s health and conditioning team. Ben also serves on the faculty for National Pilates Training and holds an Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method along with certifications in Functional Range Conditioning. He has worked with athletes from the Australian Ballet School, Western Crusaders, and national sports teams, enhancing their strength and mobility.

Kimberley Garlick

Kimberley Garlick is a dynamic Pilates and wellness expert whose journey began with ballet. Transitioning to fitness in 1992, she quickly became a leader, presenting at conventions and inspiring others. With studies in Human Movement and Nutrition, Kimberley’s passion for Pilates led her to create the Pilates Room certification program. In 2004, she became a Polestar Senior Educator, traveling globally as a sought-after presenter. Passionate about "creating the positive movement experience," Kimberley now owns Northern Rivers Pilates and is committed to helping others in the industry reach their full potential.

Sophie Moschos

BODYLOVE ACADEMY/YOUR PILATES CLASS

Sophie is a Master Pilates instructor and the founder of Your Pilates Class, an innovative online platform that offers free weekly reformer classes for instructors. With eight years of experience, she is also a head facilitator at Bodylove Academy, leading Anatomy, Mat, and Reformer Teacher Trainings. Sophie created Stretch Kinetics, an internationally accredited assisted stretching program. Holding a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise, she is passionate about making Pilates fun and engaging without compromising form, specialising in dynamic, flow-led classes that keep sessions both interesting and effective.

Melissa Wong

Melissa Wong is a STOTT PILATES® Lead Instructor Trainer and co-founder of Pilatique, a Merrithew® Licensed Training Center in Singapore and Malaysia. Since starting her STOTT PILATES journey in 2000, Melissa has been dedicated to advancing Pilates education and developing elite instructors. Guided by her motto, “Planting Good Seeds,” Melissa combines her expertise as a multi-lingual educator and business leader to oversee operations and STOTT PILATES training programs. Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence have established her as a leading figure in Pilates education, nurturing skilled instructors and successful studio entrepreneurs across the region.

Tahlia Grogan

ONE HOT YOGA & PILATES

Tahlia discovered Pilates after a back injury during her professional dance career. She began instructing in 2012, initially certified by STOTT Pilates, and now holds a Certificate 4 in Pilates and a Diploma in Clinical Pilates with over 13,000 teaching hours. Based in Melbourne, Tahlia has taught across Australia and overseas, now serving as the Pilates Program Director at One Hot Yoga & Pilates. She also leads international retreats and teacher training programs. Tahlia’s classes combine fun, energy, and creativity, staying true to the essence of the Pilates method.

Carla Mullins

Carla Mullins is the co-director and co-owner of Body Organics. With a diverse background transitioning from a lawyer to pilates teacher/studio owner, Carla brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, curiosity and tenacity to her teaching. Carla's knowledge and expertise are vast with a focus on anatomy, movement, and pain management. She’s a Level 4 Professional Practitioner with APMA and PAA, and PMA Certified, and has studied with PITC, Polestar, and APMA, among others.

Olga Tamara

AUTHENTIC PILATES EDUCATION

Olga is dedicated to the art of movement, passionately teaching Joseph Pilates' original methods while nurturing a new generation of instructors. A former dancer with the Australian Ballet Company, she toured globally before transitioning to acting. She became a certified fitness instructor in 1985 and opened “Designing Moves” in 1986. Inspired by the Authentic Pilates Method, she became certified in the NY Pilates Method and Romana’s Pilates in 2003. As the founder of the Authentic Pilates Studio, she also leads the Authentic Pilates Education International teacher training program and presents workshops internationally. Olga was also the winner of Educator of the Year 2023 at The Pilates Journal Awards.

Tracey Nicholson

TENSEGRITY TRAINING

Tracey Nicholson is a Somatic Movement Therapist and Pilates Practitioner with 35 years of experience in education and rehabilitation, alongside a background in dance performance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education, a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, and qualifications in Pilates, Somatics, and Dance Movement Therapy. Tracey has presented internationally on Somatics, Dance Movement Therapy, and developmental movement. As the executive director of Tensegrity Training, she leads a Registered Training Organisation offering Pilates and Somatics qualifications. Tracey also operates Tensegrity Studio, helping individuals connect to their bodies through movement.

Tamara O’Reilly

Tam has been passionate about Pilates for 27 years, beginning as a young dancer with double scoliosis. Pilates kept her injury-free throughout her dance career and aided her recovery after bilateral knee reconstructions from a skiing accident. With four comprehensive certifications, Tam has trained with leading industry experts and built successful Pilates businesses in Sydney, London, and Wollongong. She’s part of the global team delivering Balanced Body teacher training, focusing on understanding the “why” behind exercises. Tam is dedicated to fostering a strong, fun, and high-quality Pilates community.

Jarron Aizen

Jarron Aizen is the founder and CEO of Hapana, a leading fitness software platform empowering ambitious fitness businesses to accelerate growth and deliver exceptional member experiences. A seasoned industry veteran, he bootstrapped Hapana into a global force now serving thousands of clients across 17 countries, processing billions in transactions over the past decade. Michael Ramsey is the Co-Founder and Director of STRONG Pilates, a unique workout that combines Pilates and strength training into a high-intensity, low-impact format for all fitness levels. With a Master’s in Commerce and a background in fitness marketing, Michael has built several successful fitness ventures, including six F45 franchises and an award-winning F45 studio in Port Melbourne. Since co-founding STRONG Pilates in 2019 with Mark Amstrong, they have launched over 70 studios across nine countries and 150 in the pipeline. Michael was named Commbank's Entrepreneur of the Year and is a Lululemon legacy ambassador, actively supporting Gotcha4Life for mental health.

Selina Bridge, CEO of KX Pilates, brings over 20 years of expertise across marketing, strategy, and client services, working with global brands like Shell and Vodafone. After joining the health and fitness industry in 2014 as Marketing Manager for Curves Oceania, Selina discovered her passion for franchising, which she now leads at KX Pilates. Appointed in 2018, she has grown the brand to over 120 studios across six countries. Paola's lifelong motivation to understand movement drives her personal and professional journey as a Pilates Instructor, Slings Myofascial Trainer®, Yoga Teacher, and educator at art of motion Academy in Sydney. Beginning her movement career in dance in South Africa, she earned her first Pilates qualification in 2001. After studying with The Pilates Foundation UK, Paola embraced Slings Myofascial Training® in 2012, igniting her passion for integral anatomy. As an educator and ambassador for art of motion, she leads workshops, retreats, and teacher training, sharing her expertise with the Pilates community.

Emma Seibold is one of Australia’s most sought-after wellness entrepreneurs, as the founder and creator of Barre Body, Australia’s first barre studio concept, Bende Byron, and Teacher Love Club. Catherine Giannitto

Catherine is the Founder and Director of the Sydney-based business Polestar Pilates Australia, which houses both her Pilates studio and the headquarters of Polestar Education. After sustaining injuries in 2000, Catherine has used Pilates to successfully alleviate an arthritic condition in her spine, so she understands first-hand the benefits of Pilates, particularly for improving posture, flexibility and strength. Catherine holds Diplomas of Sports Therapies, Diploma of Pilates, and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She has presented both nationally and internationally within the Pilates space, and was an inaugural committee member of the Pilates Alliance of Australasia for over nine years.

Jessica Jenkins

Jess is an esteemed Unite Health APPI Educator who brings a wealth of passion and knowledge to her teaching. Jess holds degrees in both Physiotherapy and Pilates Instruction and after graduating from university, Jess decided to hone in on her expertise by completing postgraduate qualifications in Pelvic Floor. Jess has a special interest in treating women’s health, pelvic and spinal conditions. Her clinical approach combines evidence-based physiotherapy with clinical Pilates, dry needling, acupuncture, education and specific exercise rehabilitation to treat, manage and promote well-being.

Ashleigh Gurnett

BOUTIQUE PILATES METHOD

Ash, a former professional dancer, spent a decade traveling the world in dance and musical theatre. After using Pilates to recover from surgery for endometriosis, she fell in love with its mind-body connection and strength benefits. In 2020, Ash opened her Brisbane studio, Boutique Pilates Method (BPM), where she created her own Pilates method that aligns with musical beats. Ash completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction in 2023 and is a Faculty Educator for National Pilates Training. Passionate about teaching, she is dedicated to supporting new instructors and offering creative, music-driven classes.

  • The Pilates Journal Expo 2024: Ultimate EXPO Giveaway: Terms and Conditions

    1. Eligibility: The Pilates Journal Expo – Ultimate EXPO Giveaway is a guessing game at The Pilates Journal Expo, 22-23 February 2025 at Novotel Brighton Beach for those aged 18 and over. Employees of The Pilates Journal, Leisure Concepts, DLP Equipment, Wow Wipes, Wild Mingo, Club Martyn and their immediate families are not eligible to participate.

    2. WIN Period: From Saturday 22nd February 07:30AM (AEST) to 23rd February 2024 12:00PM (AEST).

    3. How to Enter: To enter the Ultimate EXPO Giveaway, participants at The Pilates Journal Expo will need to:

      • Guess how many jellybeans are in the jar on the reception desk at the Expo

      • Winners will be drawn from a hat. Winners for first, second, third and fourth prize will be drawn at random by a member of The Pilates Journal Expo team. Please note that the winner for the Jelly Bean Jar will be the person closest to the actual count of Jelly Beans in the jar.

    1. Selection of Winners: The winners will be drawn at random. The decision of The Pilates Journal team will be final and binding.

    2. Prize: The prize for the Challenge will be:

    Second prize:

    1. Notification: The winners will be drawn at midday on Sunday 23rd February (AEST). If the winner is not onsite when the winner is announced, another winner will be drawn by 3pm on the Sunday 23rd February by the event organiser and so on. The winners details will be collected at The Pilates Journal Expo and Leisure Concepts and Wow Wipes will arrange delivery post the Expo to an Australian address, all other prizes will be provided to the winners onsite at the Expo.

    2. Rights: By entering the Ultimate EXPO Giveaway, participants grant The Pilates Journal Expo the right to their name and images for promotional purposes across all media channels including The Pilates Journal and respective social media channels without further compensation.

    3. General Conditions: The Pilates Journal Expo reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Challenge at any time without prior notice. By participating, entrants agree to these Terms and Conditions and to comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

    4. Privacy: Personal information collected from participants to enter the Ultimate EXPO Giveaway will be used solely to administer the giveaway.     These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia and any disputes arising out of or in connection with the competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
